Expect a heart pounding, jaw-dropping, goose-bumping good time at Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure in Orlando FL. It is the only place where you can soar above Hogwarts with Harry Potter, swing above the streets with Spider-Man, become a Minion, and join Optimus Prime in the fight to save humanity and step into The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
I’m not going to describe every single ride, because it’ll remove some of the magic of before you get there! BUT some of my favorites rides in Universal Studios is Transformers: The Ride 3D, Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, Men In Black Alien Attack & ET Adventure.
We took in some of the thrill rides in this park as well. We rode Revenge of the Mummy and Hollywood Rip Ride Rocket. Which is the most intense roller coaster I have ever ridden. Take a look at my OH MY GOODNESS THIS IS INTENSE FACE when riding on the rip ride rocket!

While in Universal Studios you can experience The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley, a magnificently themed area that includes a revolutionary attraction experience – Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts – as well as all- themed shops and dining.
Just like in the books you can hop aboard the iconic Hogwarts Express to travel between Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade. Hogwarts Express connects Universal Studios to Islands of Adventure allowing guests with park-to-park admission to enjoy a real journey aboard the iconic locomotive.
Islands of Adventure
Universal’s Islands of Adventure features spectacularly themed islands, all with one-of-a-kind rides, attractions, shows, shops and restaurants, imaginatively themed to each particular island.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade, is one of the most spectacularly-themed island of them all. Inspired by J.K. Rowling’s compelling stories and characters, this attraction provides visitors with a one-of-a-kind experience complete with multiple attractions, shops and a restaurant.
Vistors can ride Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, Dragon Challenge, Flight of the Hippogriff and enjoy experience Ollivanders. Guests of Ollivanders get to experience the same type of magical moment Harry had in “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” when a wand “chooses them.”
Other Islands include, Marvel Super Hero Island that is forever caught in an epic battle between super heros and villans AND where you can ride the Hulk and The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman- my two favorite rides in IOA.
Toon Lagoon is a delightful island where everyone’s favorite cartoon characters live when they are not in the pages of the Sunday comics. Jurassic Park brings dinosaurs roaring back to life on it’s tropical island based on the famous novel and motion pictures. On the mysterious island of Lost Continent myths and legends become reality. Suess Landing is swash with color, music and whimsy, where the beloved books of Dr. Seuss spring to life.
All in all, it Universal Studios & Islands of Adventure is the you must visit while you are in the Orlando area. Make sure you schedule an entire day or, better yet, two – to explore the parks to the fullest. If you are like me and don’t enjoy waiting in the like long lines, book your stay at a Universal Premier Resort– your room key is an express pass to most rides in both parks. Or if you prefer a more intimate experience, be sure to book a VIP tour where you will skip all the lines, see behind the scenes and learn more than you could imagine about the parks. Also, I encourage everyone to attend the Mardi Gras celebrations, I have been to the Universal parks several times and the Mardi Gras festivities were by far my most memorable experience ever made there. The extravagant family friendly parade and fun starts at 5:00PM and keeps on going till late at night.
*Complimentary admission to both parks was provided as part of my Girls Getaway FAM trip.
