Bringing back the 80’s, partying with Flashing Blinky Lights!

October 17, 2012 By Joy Williams 2 Comments

♫ Lets Dance….put on your red shoes and dance the blues ♫ – David Bowie

Imagine a room full of 34 women dressed in 80’s attire, sporting light up cups and glow sticks rocking their 80’s dance moves. That is exactly what happened on our final evening at Brandcation Blog Cabin courtesy of Flashing Blinky Lights. Era appropriate dance party hits blared from the radio all night long.  We showed off our dance moves while munching on pizza and taking silly pictures.

Costumes

After lots of shopping and debate I created a Flash Dance style costume. I tried crimping my hair, but with in seconds it just looked like a ball of frizz.  So I tried to put it up in a banana clip, but it kept falling out.  The side pony tail was the only hair style I could use. Thank goodness its 2012, because it’s fairly obvious my hair would not have been stylish in the 80’s.

80's Costume flashing blinky lights,

Before the party we all piled into the bathroom to style our hair and brighten up our eye lids.  We all found ourselves laughing at the different costumes that worn. A good portion of the group dressed similar to what they would have worn in the 80’s. There were some that thought completely outside the box for their attire. Cyndi wore a Sheera costume. Candi had an awesome punk madonna type outfit.

Amy’s hair took to crimping like a champ. Kim looked just like Dolly Parton and Olivia Newton John circa 1985. Megan dressed as Peggy Bundy. Nicole rocked her tutu with the help of a rainbow brite shirt. Everyone was participating in the themed party.  It was great!

Neon colors are a staple to style of the 1980’s.  Our event coordinators infused neon into the decor with  flashing blinky lights.

We chatted the night away, with light up martini glasses filled to the brim with our beverage of choice. Glow sticks were snapped and adorned. Laughter, music and dance moves filled the room for a few short hours.

Eventually the dancing wound down.  Contests and drawings for products from our sponsors were held. Prizes were awarded and I won a rug from Carpet One!!   It was hands down the best 80’s themed party I have ever attended.

I was an attendee of Brandcation Blog cabin. All Opinions are my own.
