My favorite movie would definitely be Hope Floats! I saw this movie during the summer of 1998. It came at a very poignant time in my life where my parents divorce had just become final and I was weeks away from beginning college.
My mother had moved to Jacksonville, FL and I was living with my very best friend Leah. It has been very near and dear to my heart ever since the first time I saw it in the theater. It came on Lifetime just last week and I sat through the commercials to watch the entire movie. I fall apart every time Bernice runs after her father screaming “Daddy why don’t you want me??”
I also have been known to quote from this movie, as it is my favorite movie of all times. My favorite quote from the movie is from the character Birdie Pruitt when she says ” Childhood is what you spend the rest of your life trying to overcome. That’s what momma always says. She says that beginnings are scary, endings are usually sad, but it’s the middle that counts the most. Try to remember that when you find yourself at a new beginning. Just give hope a chance to float up. And it will… “
