Mardi Gras Universal Studios Orlando
Mardi Gras truly is a time of carnival celebration. When one thinks of Mardi Gras, most likely they conjure up thoughts from spicy Cajun food to lighted floats with colorful beads being thrown from them to street musicians and more. On Saturdays and select nights through April 18, Universal Studios is hosting the best Mardi Gras party around! In addition to enjoying Universal Orlando theme park attractions, the Mardi Gras celebration is a family-friendly version of New Orléans’ famed Mardi Gras event. The party combines theme park entertainment with a fun and vibrant Mardi Gras parade, colorful costumed performers, authentic New Orleans bands, Cajun cuisine and live concerts by some of today’s most popular artists.
In the French Quarter Courtyard you can find a variety of New Orléans inspired foods such as Jambalaya, Shrimp Po Boy sandwiches, King cake and beignets. While strolling through the quarter you will hear music from authentic New Orléans street musicians.
The most spectacular part of Mardi Gras at Universal Studios Orlando is definitely the parade. An immeasurable amount of time goes into building the floats and making sure the design is elaborate as possible. Universal Studios Mardi Gras creative director, Jason Horne, works closely with artists and engineers from Kern Studios, a company who builds many of the real New Orleans Mardi Gras floats. The parade this year featured several floats dedicated to celebrating all different cultures around the world, such as China and India. Floats from previous years, such as the Gator float and the King and Queen float, were included in the parade as well. We had the opportunity to ride on the King & Queen float and toss out beads to the parade spectators. It was such an amazing time!
On select evenings, after the parade, guests can keep the party going by enjoying a live concert from some of today’s popular artists. This year’s line-up consists of all types of performers, from Styx to Kelly Clarkson and The All American Rejects. You can view the complete show line up here. Our group was able to meet MKTO and see them in concert! It was so fun to sing along to their current hits Classic and American Dream.
Whether you are a food connoisseur, a music buff, or just a regular party-goer, Universal Orlando’s Mardi Gras is sure to keep you entertained. The festivities continue every Saturday and select dates through April 18, so do not miss out! For more information or to buy tickets, visit Mardi Gras Universal Studios Orlando.
